ANEURYSM IMPACT MOVEMENT:

OUR MISSION

In January of 2022 our world was shaken to its core.

Our husband and father, Steve Fossum, a pillar of

strength, man of integrity and a visionary in his field,

was suddenly brought down by an undetected,

unexpected brain aneurysm burst. The following

9 months were a blur of hospitals, treatments,

questions, fear and prayer. Sadly, our story ended as

many others have with our loved one passing away

from complications from the aneurysm.

The determination and fighting spirit that Steve

showed empowered us to keep going. Though his

time on earth was over, the fight was not. He never

quit, and we were not about to either. After experiencing

this tragedy, we came to learn that more people need to be made aware of the signs and symptoms of aneurysms

and it is imperative to raise money for more research to combat these silent killers. We decided we had to do something. The Aneurysm Impact Movement is our promise to the world that we will do what we can so that other families do not suffer the same tragic loss that we did.

So, we humbly thank you for being a part of our event. Whether you are a participant or a sponsor, a supporter or a survivor, just by being involved, you are playing a big part in helping future families affected by brain aneurysms.

COMMON QUESTIONS

How long is the walk?:

1 Lap around the Capitol Gardens is 1.5 Miles. You will have the option to walk 1 or 2 Laps during the event!

How do I receive a pom-pom?:

When you register for the Walk, you must raise/donate a minimum of $5. You will then receive a Pom-Pom at the event!

How do I receive a T-shirt?:

When you register for the Walk, you must raise/donate a minimum of $100. You will then receive a T-Shirt at the event!

Where do the funds go?
The funds raised through the Aneurysm Impact Movement event will benefit the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is the largest private funder of brain aneurysm research. The foundation is committed to continue funding researchers across the US and Canada until a major life altering breakthrough is found. To date they have funded nearly $6 million. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Do I have to register in order to Walk?
Yes, we want to know you're walking with us and need every participant to sign a standard waiver through their official registration. There is no registration fee to walk with us. However, we ask every participant to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds in the fight against Brain Aneurysms.

Do I need to register my children for Walk?
Yes, children should register. Parents/guardians can register children online or complete an offline registration form and sign the waiver on behalf of the child.

Are pets, strollers, bicycles and skates allowed on event day?
We do allow strollers, but for everyone's safety, we discourage skateboards, bicycles, inline skates and wheelie footwear. Depending on the rules of the location, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times.

What happens if it rains?
The Aneurysm Impact Movement will proceed, rain or shine. If there is severe weather, which may pose risk to participants, we will cancel. If this is the case, we will update our event homepage and social media on or before the morning of the event.

We need volunteers! Know anyone who might be interested in helping us on the day of the event?
We need volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, registration, water stops, Pom-Pom & Shirt stations and so much more. All interested volunteers should visit our volunteer page for more information about event day roles and responsibilities.

How do I get a Pom-Pom?
Each registered participant that raises/donates $5 will receive a Pom-Pom. Please choose the color that best represents your connection to aneurysms.
